Resumes are your personal marketing tool!

Why do you need a resume? Resumes are your personal marketing tool. This is how you introduce yourself to hiring organizations. Your resume is a hiring organization’s first glimpse into you and your background so a well written resume is key.
Start here:
  • Build a well written resume to introduce yourself, to market yourself. Your resume is an employer’s first look and first impression of you. It should be written without errors.
  • Your resume is your brand and should highlight what employers need. Let employers know how you can bring value to their organization.
  • Highlight your skills and experiences. Employers are looking for candidates that meet their needs. Make sure your resume shows the employer what you have done in the past, your accomplishments and skills that are unique to you.
  • Great resumes that meet the needs of employers get interviews. If you want the job, you must first get the interview. To get the interview, you must show the employer that you have what it takes to strengthen their organization. It all starts with your resume.

A strong resume can open up opportunities. While you may have applied to one job, oftentimes, an employer may see something in you and your resume that better fits a need they have not been able to fill. I have seen this happen many times and I have filled roles that a candidate had no idea existed. Perhaps the role was not yet posted or perhaps the employer had this idea for a future role. Regardless of why, you may have just opened a new door.

Make a great first impression. Use your resume as a personal marketing tool. Let employers know you can be a great addition to their team!
